Sunset or Lunch Cliff Camping Experience
Dine with a difference! Enjoy dinner on a cliff edge with our sunset cliff camping experience. Delight in the Dorset coastline in a way that you’ve never seen before. You will abseil onto a platform where you will be served a dinner of your choice whilst watching the sunset.
Cliff camping is a term for sitting or sleeping on a platform on the edge of a cliff. The technical term for this is a portaledge, which is a small fabric and metal platform, safely attached to the cliff face. Our instructors will guide you through getting to the platform and make sure you have a fun and safe experience.
We provide full safety equipment and a qualified instructor will be with you the whole time, whilst giving you enough space to take in the view. Dinner is included and we can cater for a range of dietary requirements.
Make sure to bring warm clothes and trainers to walk down to the ledge plus a camera with selfie stick for those important shots to share! Please remember any medication and a rucksack for your personal kit. Of course, a sense of adventure is most important and we can’t wait to welcome you to the ‘ledge’!
How it works
Your instructor will meet you at the agreed venue. The portaledge will already be set up for you, and all you have to do is walk down to the cliff area where the instructor will make you feel relaxed with the environment.
When he has made a safe area on the cliff top, he will give you the skills to abseil into the portaledge. Here you will be made to feel at home.
The instructor will be close to hand if you need him, but far enough away so you can enjoy the view and sunset of the Dorset coastline in peace. Our instructor will be on hand if you need anything. He will coach you on how best to move around and make the most of your time on the ledge. You will always be attached to the cliff face and made to feel safe.
Once settled, your instructor will lower your dinner down to you for you to enjoy while the sun is setting and after you’ve finished dinner it will be hoisted away. You can then enjoy the evening views and the sea waves below you.
After your experience, the instructor will help you to pack away and climb easily to the top, and then a short walk back to the meeting point.

We booked with Eddy for the sunset cliff camping experience and it was amazing, stunning views you could sit for hours and not get bored of! Toilets
At each of the meeting points there is a public toilet. The environment that we work and play in is very important to our work ethics. We respect this and therefore only leave footprints, not rubbish.
Weather Conditions
Waterproof covers that can cover the whole portaledge are available if there is a risk of a shower. At the same time, we reserve the right to cancel the booking if the weather is looking too bad for a good experience. In that eventuality, an alternative date or a full refund will be offered.
