When I’m not climbing for work, I climb for pleasure! The end of last year saw me jetting off for a climbing trip to Tenerife.
The final audit of the week took us to North Wales on Saturday, working on behalf of Vertex Instructor Training at Haven Presthaven.
It had been a long time since our last visit, possibly as far back as 2012, so it was great to return and see how the site and team have developed.
...A big well done to everyone involved, with a special shout out to Erin for her excellent work during the jump sessions. Her ability to adapt her coaching, manage the group and respond flexibly throughout really stood out 👏

In between this week’s work, audits and plenty of driving, we managed to squeeze in a training session at Boulder UK 🧗
Handily located just off the motorway, it’s a great facility with plenty of bouldering and a really good training setup.
We’d definitely recommend a ...visit if you’re passing through.
And an important final note… the coffee is outstanding ☕️

Another audit completed on behalf of Vertex Instructor Training, this time at Haven Cala Gran, just outside Blackpool 🌲
I think the last time we visited was back in 2012, so it was great to return and see how much the site has developed over the years.
There was some really ...strong instructing throughout the visit, alongside great coaching, positive energy and a team clearly committed to delivering high-quality sessions.
And we have to give a special mention to the super cool, and surprisingly cute, PPE store! 😄

Another audit completed on behalf of Vertex Instructor Training, this time for Haven Lakeland in the Lake District 🌲
It was great to see some excellent instructing in action, alongside the important behind the scenes work that supports safe and consistent delivery.
We spent ...time reviewing risk assessments, policies and procedures, while also recognising the strong standards already being maintained across the site.

We had the pleasure of working with the Outdoor Education School in the New Forest, supporting the launch of their brand new tree climbing activity 🌳🧗

What a weekend! ☀️
It was great to catch up with Mike and Tommy after their trip to Norway, with both of them making the most of the sunshine down in Swanage.
Despite the soaring temperatures, we headed to Dancing Ledge to introduce Lisa and Lee to the world of traditional ...climbing. Conditions were certainly warm, but both took it all in their stride and did a fantastic job throughout the day.
It was also brilliant to see Chris back again. After recently completing an introduction to sport climbing, he was keen to build on those skills with another day out on the rock.
Across the sessions we covered:
• Setting up belays
• Abseiling on sea cliffs
• Recapping movement skills
• Top rope belaying
• General climbing and adventure techniques
Days like these are what climbing is all about, developing skills, building confidence, enjoying great company and making the most of incredible venues.

Another great day out last week, this time with the team at Poole High School in Dorset.
The day focused on staff training and refresher sessions, helping the team build confidence, refresh key skills and spend valuable time working together.
The whole team brought fantastic ...energy throughout the day, with plenty of enthusiasm, great teamwork and even a few hilarious climbing and bouldering games thrown into the mix!
