Overnight Cliff Camping Experience
Spend an unforgettable and adventurous night on the edge of a cliff! Watch the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean, with waves crashing on the rocks below, and enjoy dinner with a 5 star view! This is not a glamping night – it is a real adventure!
Cliff camping is where you sleep on the edge of a cliff using a portaledge. This is a small tent that attaches into the cliff side with a suspended platform. You will be safely attached to the platform, allowing you to enjoy dinner and an overnight stay with the most amazing view.
We provide full safety equipment and a qualified instructor will stay at the top of the cliff for the whole night. Dinner is included and we can cater for a range of dietary requirements.
Bring with you warm clothes and trainers to walk down to the ledge. You will need your own sleeping bag, carry mat and pillow with a head torch. We can recommend equipment, just get in touch. Please remember any medication and a rucksack for your personal kit. Most importantly, make sure you bring a camera with a selfie stick to capture the experience!
How it works
Your instructor will meet you at the agreed venue. The portaledge will already be set up for you, and all you have to do is walk down to the cliff area where the instructor will make you feel relaxed with the environment.
When he has made a safe area on the cliff top, he will give you the skills to abseil into the portaledge. Here you will be made to feel at home.
The instructor will be close to hand if you need him, but far enough away so you can enjoy the view and sunset of the Dorset coastline in peace. Our instructor will be on hand if you need anything. He will coach you on how best to move around and make the most of your night on the ledge. You will always be attached to the cliff face and made to feel safe.
Once settled, your instructor will lower your dinner down to you for you to enjoy while the sun is setting and after you’ve finished dinner it will be hoisted away. You can then enjoy the evening views and the sea waves below you.
You will be attached on at all times to keep you safe. In the morning your instructor will give you an early wake up call (6am). Once you have packed your sleeping bags away you will be able to climb easily to the top and walk back to the meeting point.

Myself and my partner had the most amazing time cliff camping overnight with Young’s Adventure Solutions! Eddy was great – really friendly and professional from the get-go. The whole experience was incredible, from the stunning setting and sunset, to the brilliant food, the abseiling practice to the ledge (!) and gorgeous sunrise in the morning. A truly unique experience I would recommend to anyone.

Toilets
At each of the meeting points there is a public toilet. The environment that we work and play in is very important to our work ethics. We respect this and therefore only leave footprints, not rubbish.
Weather Conditions
Waterproof covers that can cover the whole portaledge are available if there is a risk of a shower. At the same time, we reserve the right to cancel the booking if the weather is looking too bad for a good experience. In that eventuality, an alternative date or a full refund will be offered.
